How is an album born? What inspires an artist to write and compose music?
Waiting for the release of my American album "Something True" I tell you how it was born. Writing songs is something that comes naturally, it does not work thinking "Today I write a song". But it is essential to have a thought. I already had some ideas but the first thing to start with it was knowing I would record in the US with David Labruyere And Stephen Chopek. I had this image fixed in my head, I listened to a lot of music and I played every day. Another pregnant inspiration I had from Simona and the trips made together. I thought about creating a playlist on Spotify With the songs that helped me to make to be born Something True.

SONG 1. AND IT STONED ME-VAN MORRISON
SONG 1. "AND IT STONED ME" - VAN MORRISON

This song made me want to have the horns on the record and I also wanted to catch a little air of the 70s.

SONG 2. SHELTER-DAVID RYAN HARRIS
SONG 2. "SHELTER" - DAVID RYAN HARRIS

It remembers me the trip to London, listening to this song live guitar and vocals in a small pub was a wonderful experience and opened my mind for new melodies and new chords.

SONG 3. THINKING ABOUT YOU-NORAH JONES
SONG 3. "THINKING ABOUT YOU" - NORAH JONES

Norah has always been my source of inspiration and this song also contains the air I wanted to convey to Something True.

SONG 4. MICHIGAN and ELEGY-LEIF VOLLEBEKK
SONGS 4. "MICHIGAN" and "ELEGY" - LEIF VOLLEBEKK

I discovered this artist thanks to Simona during a trip to Ireland, we listened to this record for the whole road trip. I remember the sunsets the colors, the nature. I was inspiredv one very important song in the record.

SONG 5. HELPLESS and CLARITY-JOHN MAYER
SONGS.5 "HELPLESS" and "CLARITY" - JOHN MAYER

As I have already written so many times, he is my favorite musician and see him to play live made me come a lot of musical ideas. An uncommon experience. In particular I wanted to put the elegance of Clarity and The Helpless funk in the album Helpless.

SONG 6. 26-PARAMORE
SONG.6 "26" - PARAMORE

THE Paramore is my "Band" of the periodo "Teens", the voice of Hayley has always been one of my favorites. This song inspired me to write one of the most "sweet" song of the album and it also gave me the idea to put the strings in some songs.

SONG 7. PINK MOON and ROAD-NICK DRAKE
SONGS.7 "PINK MOON" and "ROAD" - NICK DRAKE

Nick for me is something inexplicable, in him I see all my brittleness and in my record I relate my fears in a melancholy way. I disclose these feelings with the music; in this album I really tell who I am. I'd like to explain the lyrics, but I prefer to do it when it comes out.

SONG 8. OUTBOUND TRAIN-RYAN ADAMS
SONG.8 "OUTBOUND TRAIN" - RYAN ADAMS

This song has not inspired a particular song, it reminds me a lot of the days spent in the studio in Memphis. It remembers me the air breathed there and the joy in recording this album. I have decided to put it in the playlist however because it's part of Something True.

SONG 9. BELLY NICE BELLY-DAVE MATTHEWS BAND
SONG.9 "BELLY BELLY NICE" - DAVE MATTHEWS BAND

Let's go back to talk about Funk but this time done with the acoustic guitar; this song by Dave Matthews Band is what has inspired me. As I discovered this band is out-of-the-way. I remember that a guy after seeing me play at a concert he told me that I remembered him the way to play of Dave. From that day I have not stopped listening to them and I have had a musical growth thanks also to their musical.

These are the songs that inspired my new album musically. I will continue to talk about SOMETHING TRUE When it comes out, especially to explain the texts and the experience "Sam Phillips Recording".
